A collection of gig posters, tix, reviews and more, from the UK and NZ – 1980s/1990s (mostly).

Like most people I enjoy music, and over the years I’ve purchased plenty. And been to many live gigs (my first was Gary Glitter supported by Mark Williams in the early 1970s at the Theatre Royal, Timaru, NZ) – this site will be an archive of that, beginning early 1980s, when I was going to see friends’ bands around Timaru and Christchurch, New Zealand; but also national and international artists (it won’t be a definitive record). The first entries are from late 1987 until early 1996 when I lived in London, UK, with my wife Chrissie (who suffered through some of these, but would never come to see The Fall) – this archive is mostly from that period. Some other gig information might form part of this archive; it will be added to as time permits, until it’s ‘finished’. I hope you enjoy what you see – maybe it invokes (hopefully happy) memories of your own. My music ‘taste’ has been nurtured by the influence of friends, Radio U, Rip It Up, NME and (most of all) John Peel (R.I.P.); more recently rdu and The Joint (Fraser and Herb Whisperer, excellent curators of very cool music, now on 8k.com), and RNZ’s Music 101. Thanks for looking – Greg (and Chrissie).

Dedicated to the memory of Barrie Thompson (04/13/1960 – 10/12/2017), Myles Richardson (12/04/62 – 10/04/2022), Colin Bower (04/20/1962 – 02/17/2019), Steve Cowan (10/15/1959 – 07/19/1986), Geoff Hopkins and my dear Dad “Dick” Dodds (10/22/1935 – 04/19/2022), who was a musician and also a music lover.
